Discipline Department
At Oak Meadow International School Phuket, we believe that discipline is not about punishment — it is about guidance, growth, responsibility, and safety.
The Discipline Department works to ensure that every student learns in a secure, respectful, and supportive environment where expectations are clear and consistent. Our approach balances restorative practices with structured consequences, always placing student wellbeing and community safety at the center of our decisions.
Our Philosophy
We promote:
● Respect for oneself and others
● Personal responsibility
● Accountability for actions
● Safe and positive learning environments
● Fair and consistent procedures
We believe that mistakes are opportunities for learning. At the same time, we maintain clear boundaries to protect every student’s right to learn without disruption or fear.
LeadershipTeam
Primary School Discipline
T. Daria – Discipline Coordinator (Grades 1–5) In Primary School, discipline focuses on positive behavior reinforcement, emotional development, and early self-regulation skills. Students are guided through structured classroom management, restorative conversations, and our Positive Behavior Points System, which encourages responsibility and community contribution.
The goal is to help young learners develop strong behavioral foundations in a supportive and age-appropriate way.
High School Discipline
T. Kelly – Discipline Coordinator (Grades 6–8 and Electives) In High School, discipline emphasizes accountability, integrity, and preparation for adulthood. Students are expected to demonstrate mature decision-making, respect for others, and adherence to school standards.
Behavioral matters are handled through structured procedures, clear escalation pathways, and collaboration with parents and school leadership when necessary.
Our Approach
The Discipline Department:
● Supports teachers in maintaining effective classroom environments
● Ensures fair and consistent application of school policies
● Protects student rights and staff professionalism
● Works closely with parents when concerns arise
● Collaborates with the School Psychologist and SEN team when appropriate
We separate academic evaluation from disciplinary processes to ensure fairness and transparency.
Student Wellbeing First
We recognize that behavior is sometimes connected to emotional, developmental, or learning needs. When appropriate, we work collaboratively with families and support specialists to ensure students receive guidance rather than simply consequences.
Serious matters involving safety or safeguarding are handled immediately and in accordance with school policy.
Our Commitment
Oak Meadow International School is committed to:
● Maintaining a safe and respectful school culture
● Applying procedures consistently and fairly
● Supporting both students and teachers
● Communicating transparently with families
● Ensuring that discipline protects learning, dignity, and wellbeing
We believe that strong structure combined with care builds confident, responsible young people.
