Academic Scholarship Policy 

The purpose of this policy is to establish clear, transparent, and consistent guidelines for the awarding, management, and continuation of academic scholarships at Oak Meadow International School. The program recognizes students who demonstrate strong academic achievement, positive conduct, and commitment to the school’s values. 

SCOPE:  

This policy applies to all students applying for or receiving an academic scholarship, as well as their parents/guardians and relevant school administrators. 

SCHOLARSHIP SLOT LIMITATIONS:

• Academic scholarships are limited to two (2) students per Academic Year.
• If more than two applicants meet the eligibility criteria, scholarships shall be awarded to the two students with the highest Grade Point Average (GPA).
• The school reserves the right not to award a scholarship if applicants do not meet the required academic and behavioral standards.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP LEVELS AND DISCOUNT CRITERIA

Academic scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, consistency, and conduct.
The following scholarship levels apply: 20% ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Minimum overall academic average of 85%
• Consistent completion of academic requirements
• Satisfactory behavior and adherence to school rules
• Positive attitude toward learning

30% ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• Minimum overall academic average of 88%
• Strong and consistent academic performance across subjects
• Demonstrates responsibility and good study habits
• Positive conduct and engagement in school life

40% ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• Minimum overall academic average of 90%
• Sustained academic excellence
• Demonstrates leadership, initiative, and exemplary behavior
• Strong commitment to learning and school values

The approved scholarship percentage shall be clearly stated in the individual Academic Scholarship Confirmation Letter.

APPLICATION TIMELINE AND ASSESEMENT

APPLICATION PERIOD

Applications for the Academic Scholarship must be submitted during the 1st Term of each Academic Year.
• All applications must be completed and approved before payment of school fees.
• Applications submitted outside the 1st Term or after school fee payment will not be considered unless approved by school management under exceptional circumstances.

TERMLY ASSESMENT

• All academic scholarship recipients shall be assessed at the end of each academic term.
• Continuation of the scholarship is subject to meeting the required academic average, maintaining good conduct, and fulfilling attendance requirements.

SCHOLARSHIP DURATION

• Academic scholarships are awarded for a defined period (per term, academic year, or until completion of a specified grade level).
• Continuation of the scholarship is subject to termly assessment and compliance with this policy.

RENEWAL AND MAINTENENCE REQUIREMENTS

To maintain an academic scholarship, the student must:

• Maintain the required overall academic average for the awarded scholarship level
• Demonstrate good conduct and compliance with the school’s code of behavior
• Meet attendance and academic progress expectations

Academic performance and conduct are reviewed at the end of each academic term.

REVIEW, PROBATION, AND TERMINATION

• If a student fails to meet the required criteria, the school may:
o Issue a written warning
o Place the scholarship on probation for one term
o Reduce or withdraw the scholarship
• Parents/guardians will be notified in writing of any changes.
• All decisions following review are final.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

• Academic scholarships apply to tuition fees only unless otherwise stated in writing.
• Scholarships do not cover registration fees, endowment fees, deposit fee, or external program costs.
• Scholarships are non-transferable and have no cash value.

PARENT AND STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Parents and students must:
• Acknowledge acceptance of the scholarship terms in writing
• Support the student in maintaining academic performance and good conduct
• Inform the school of any circumstances that may affect eligibility

SCHOOL AUTHORITY

Oak Meadow International School reserves the right to:
• Amend this policy as necessary
• Review academic scholarships annually
• Make final decisions regarding approval, continuation, reduction, or termination

POLICY REVIEW

This policy shall be reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with the school’s academic standards and strategic objectives.
